Its me ( :

I will start this profile like all the other typical profiles with my name; it is Rayyan Adel Alkaff Alhashemi. I come from a family of five brothers and two sisters. I am the eldest of the boys. I don’t remember going through a teenager phase in my life but do remember a bigger role of responsibilities where I was kind of on the spot. Chemistry, Math, and Engineering was not in my long-term plans but recently was added in the short term once. Therefore recently I am in my common year in Engineering.
I have many passions in my life and a lot of hobbies. Cruising with the boat, fishing, and swimming are things I have regularly done in my life. Reading, writing, and listening are things I developed in the past three years.

I believe that life contains the good and the bad, the beautiful and ugliness and every soul in it chooses his path.

I believe that Islam gave me everything.

I believe that true love is a miracle in this period of the world’s age.

This blog was created as a project to the English course, level two.

Why Am I Writing this?

It is true that I am obliged to do this blog because it is a project, this topic, however had seriously caught my attention when I read an article in the Gulf News titled “Climate change ‘will hit coastlines soon’” in March. It actually concerned me because this article was not talking about the costs of Austria or India, it was actually discussing or coast lines. I looked in Gulf New’s archives for this article and I quote Landais, the reporter in his article: “Man-made islands here and abroad will disappear with Bahrain potentially losing up 15 kilometers of coastline if sea levels rise as has predicted by scientist, according to a senior environment researcher based in Dubai.”

I have served the Internet and know that there is lots of information about this subject, as it is getting more popular by the day. I am interested in exposing some of the latest news about this issue. And a little description of Global warming would not harm, to those who are clueless of one of the biggest world’s phenomena. In my blog I will only be writing what I myself would be interested in reading as a normal resident in the Gulf.

Define

Global warming is basically an increase of temperature of the earth’s atmosphere. The planet has went through many warming and cooling of its surface in the past 4.65 billion years of history but this time the earth is facing a record in the great amount of heat. According to BBC News they say that, “It’s said that by the time a baby born today is 80 years old. The world could be 11 degrees warmer than it is now.” There are many evidence where its impact has already been greatly seen through many places. For example as we have here in the picture of the polar ice melting into the waters which leads to a series of other problems. From increasing the water’s level, to cities and villages drowning. Other than the felt increase of weather temperature in specific countries.

One cause of Global Warming

One of Global Warming causes is increasing of population. More people means more food, and more methods of transportation, right? That means more methane because there will be more burning of fossil fuels, and more agriculture. Now your probably thinking, "Wait a minute, you said agriculture is going to be damaged by Global Warming, but now you're saying agriculture is going to help cause Global Warming?" Well, have you ever been in a barn filled with animals and you smell something terrible? You're smelling" methane ". Another source of methane is manure. Because more food is needed we have to raise food. Animals like cows are a source of food which means more manure and methane. Another problem with the increasing population is transportation. More people means more cars, and more cars means more pollution. Also, many people have more than one car.

Causes

There are many causes to Global warming or the increase of temperature in planet earth. Some are natural and most are from human activities. The biggest reason of this warming is thought to be burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and natural gas, which releases into the atmosphere carbon dioxide and things known as greenhouse gasses. Everyday passes the atmosphere becomes richer of these gases, which return back the sun heat to the planet. Surface of planet earth's average temperature is below 15°C (59°F) which has been raised over the last century by about o.6 Celsius degree (1 Fahrenheit degree). Scientist and theories expect the polar ice to melt, and the sea to get warmer which will cause floods of costal regions and entire islands. Also cutting of trees and conquering the nature plays a great role along with the huge architecture boost and creating new islands in the sea by dumping the waters where Dubai is a great example of that.

UAE and Arab country’s in Risk of climate moods

The whole world has its eyes focused on the Arab’s oil, and Europe is still competing with the United States and China – the world’s biggest oil consumers to prove themselves better. Everyone is noticing the great affect of the new wave of heat in the strategic moves of oil want and demand. Most of the country’s even the Arabs, are trying to find other alternatives for energy and wealth. Since the world’s population is expected to double in the mid 21st century, humans need more food, food will decrease because of the heat, and that is the chaos. “United Nations reports indicate that developing countries, including Arab Nations, will be the worst hit by climate change because of their reliance on agriculture and raw materials.” Poor countries are the number one victims of global warming. Apart from drought other areas in the world are threatened by floods, which will also lead to reduction in agricultural production.

Al Gore’s movie

Very interesting, provoking movie!! I have always heard that Al Gore was one the boring stiff figures of politics-Bill Clinton’s vice president from 1993 to 2001, however I can see now that Global Warming has turned him into a Hollywood star. Regarding the content it was truly very provoking, one of the things that unites the whole world and talks from the angle of humanity. “Inconvenient Truth” contained convincing illustrations, examples, and statistics to prove the big dilemma. He was very persuasive when he added parts and stories of his life. He made us live not only the informative story of the (World in Danger) thing, but also a story of a real life carrying his hardships through the stories of his son, and politics. Al Gore talked freely about what is real with out decorating it with makeup. Raised the importance of nature and the increasing greed of substance and felt free to be sarcastic when the situation needed! As a conclusion and an ending, he proposed many ways that a person as an individual can contribute to help the world and the nation starting from the very small things. An “Inconvenient Truth” was a success that raised an important issue to prevent a defiant chaos.
